Briana Rubio scored in overtime to give Christian County a 4-3 win over Fort Campbell in the Eighth District opener for both teams.
Fort Campbell jumped out to a 3-1 lead in the first half behind a pair of goals from Kaitlyn Cervantes and one from Hannah Eastes. Autumn Bell had Christian County’s lone goal in the first half.
Bell added her second goal and was joined in the scoring column by Emma Fleming to tie the game at 3-3.
Christian County improved to 6-4 on the season and 1-0 in district play. It was their first district win since 2014. The six wins is the most in a season for the Lady Colonels since 2015. They will play at University Heights Academy Thursday with first place in the district on the line.
Fort Campbell (4-5, 0-1) will play at Hopkinsville Thursday.
