At the beginning of the season, many believed that the Hopkinsville Lady Tigers volleyball team might just be the dark horse team that could make a run at the trio of Henderson County, Caldwell County, and UHA. With the athleticism and talent on the team, that could still happen, but the Lady Tigers are starting to get a little short on time to build momentum for the stretch run of the season.

Thursday night, the Lady Tigers took on a solid Logan County team, with the Lady Cougars coming away with a straight set win. Logan County opened the first set with a 7-1 run and never looked back, winning the set 25-15.

The Lady Cougars opened quickly again in the second set with a 7-3 run. Hopkinsville battled back, tying the match at 8, 10, and 11, before Logan County closed out the set on a 14-4 spurt to win the set 25-15 and go up 2 set to none.

Hopkinsville scored the first point of the 3rd set, but Logan County came back quickly and took a 7-4 lead. The Logan County lead was just 16-14 when the Lady Cougars ran off a 9-1 blitz to win the set 25-15 and complete the sweep.

In the loss, Hopkinsville had a big night from Karalyn Beymer, who unofficially had 9 kills, and Sarah Cavanah, who had six kills and two aces.

Hopkinsville will return to action in a big 8th District battle on Tuesday when they host UHA.
