Fort Campbell to Unveil Marshall Patterson “Hall of Fame”

Fort Campbell High School will honor one of its biggest athletic legends during ceremonies Friday on post. The school will officially unveil the “Marshall Patterson Hall of Fame”, with its first inductee to be the record setting Falcon football coach.

The event is part of homecoming weekend at Fort Campbell.

Alumni, school officials, military officials, and others will be on hand for the official ceremony opening the Hall of Fame, and honoring Patterson as the first inductee, at the school at 3:00pm.

Patterson, who passed away in January of 2014, was inducted into the KHSAA Hall of Fame in 2016.

Patterson was the first ever football coach at Fort Campbell, when the program began, and coached the Falcons for 32 years. Patterson’s teams won three state championships during his tenure as coach. His career record at Fort Campbell was 227-120, including 20-12 in postseason play.

Patterson was named Kentucky Coach of the Year three times. He also served as the Falcons’ wrestling coach winning a state title and finishing 2nd twice.

Patterson also served a long tenure as Fort Campbell’s athletic director.

As a part of the homecoming weekend, and the Hall of Fame, ceremony, Fort Campbell will welcome back former players as honorary captains for the Friday night game against Trigg County. Those captains will be:

STAN NELSON, Class of 1965–FB 1964 FOOTBALL TEAM
C. RAY METTS, Class of 1969–C 1968 FOOTBALL TEAM
MIKE CASSITY, Class of 1971–DB 1970 FOOTBALL TEAM
RICK LARSON, Class of 1977–QB 1976 FOOTBALL CHAMPIONSHIP TEAM
