Caldwell Loses Twice at Colonel Showcase

A tough day Saturday for the Caldwell County Tigers during their appearance in the Colonel Showcase at the Stadium of Champions. The Tigers saw a halftime lead slip away in a loss to Mayfield, and then were shutout in a mercy rule game against Graves County.

In the opener, the Tigers jumped out to a 2-0 halftime lead against Mayfield. Caldwell County got first half goals from Collin Shaffer, at the 26 minute mark, and Blake Vivrette, at the 39 minute mark, to get out to the lead.

Then, Austin Raiyney got involved for Mayfield. The senior scored five second half goals for the Cardinals as they came storming back for the 5-2 win. His five goals were all scored in the first 26 minutes of the second half.

In their second game of the day, the Tigers never could get themselves going, as they dropped a 10-0 decision to the Graves County Eagles. Graves County scored five goals in the first half, and then added five more in the first 16 minutes of the second half to bring the match to an end.

With the losses, Caldwell County now falls to 1-10-1 on the season.
