
Hopkinsville was able to hand Crittenden County only their third loss to Second Region schools Saturday, knocking off the Lady Rockets in five sets 21-25, 25-21, 25-13, 24-26, 18-16 at Caldwell County.
It was Hopkinsville’s first five set win of the season, and their first win after dropping the first set since last year’s district title win over University Heights, also won in five sets.
Hopkinsville has now won six straight matches against Crittenden County (17-3) dating back to 2007. Saturday was the first time they’ve met in four years.
In the final match of the day, Caldwell County beat Hoptown 3-0 (25-9, 25-17, 25-17) to extend their winning streak to 18 games in the series.
Sarah Cavanah had 20 kills and four aces in the two matches, while Karalyn Beymer added 20 kills and two blocks, and Hope Pace had 13 kills and four blocks. Savannah Peck had 32 assists, with Cavanah adding 30. Hailey Hallmark chipped in with seven kills and five blocks.
Hopkinsville (4-15) will host Christian County Tuesday at Tiger Gym. The Lady Tigers will likely be the No. 3 seed in next month’s district tournament.
