A quick start propelled Christian County to a 9-0 win over Fort Campbell Thursday and snapped the Colonels’ nine-game district losing streak.

Yeffrey Macario fed Emmanuel Ixcol for the first goal of the match just four minutes in. Thomas Barrett found the right side of the net in the 14th minute for a 2-0 Colonel lead.

Ixcol and Macario both scored later in the half to give the Colonels a 4-0 lead at halftime.

Fort Campbell had trouble keeping possession and in turn, didn’t get many good looks at the goal.

Ixcol completed his hat trick two minutes into the second half and would add a fourth goal six minutes later. Luke Ferrell, Benito Rubio, and Macario completed the remainder of the scoring for the Colonels, whose nine goals scored are the most in a game since a 10-2 win over Lyon County in 2013.

Macario finished with four assists in the contest, and goalie Ben Settle, along with the Colonel defense anchored by Zach Holmes and Ethan Wells, got the shutout.

Fort Campbell (2-6-2) was looking to bounce back after losing a 6-2 lead late against Paducah Tilghman Tuesday in a match that ended in a 6-6 tie. The Falcons will host Graves County Monday.

Christian County (6-10-1) clinched the third seed in the Eighth District Tournament with the win and will play at Lyon County Monday.
