If Christian County and Muhlenberg County meet in girls’ soccer in 2019, they should forego the two halves and move straight to a penalty kick round. On Tuesday, the schools played to a scoreless tie – the third straight year their game has ended with no goals.
Christian County was on a bit of a roll with 12 goals in their last two wins over Apollo and Union County. However, it was the Lady Colonel defense that again got the job done against a Lady Mustang squad that leads all Third Region teams with 14 wins and came into the contest averaging over four goals a game.
The Lady Colonels, who gave up 3.5 goals per game last year, have cut that in half this season giving up 1.7 per game. Tuesday was their sixth shutout of the season.
Christian County (9-7-2) returns to action Monday in the Eighth District Tournament at Fort Campbell against Hopkinsville.
