After missing the cut in her first two trips to the state golf tournament, Crittenden County’s Lauren Gilchrist finished tied for 38th after Wednesday’s second round.
The junior finished at 9-over to make the cut Tuesday at the Leachman Auto/KHSAA State Golf Tournament at the Bowling Green Country Club. She followed that with a 15-over 87 on Wednesday.
Gilchrist birdied two of her last four holes Tuesday to finish the back nine with a 1-over 37. She had nine bogeys and a birdie in Wednesday’s second round.
Her round of 81 Tuesday was her best in four career rounds at the state tournament. She advanced to the state tournament after finishing tied for third at region.
