After having their struggles early in the season, the Christian County Lady Colonels have been among the 2nd Region’s hottest volleyball teams coming down the stretch of the regular season. The Lady Colonels won for the 8th time in their last 11 matches Thursday night, sweeping Frankin-Simpson in straight sets on Senior Night at Christian County High School.
The teams had agrees to play the match as a best-of-three sets due to Senior Night and travel distance for the Lady Wildcats.
The first set was a battle early on, with the two teams going back and forth. With the match tied at 8-8, the Lady Colonels scored the next seven points to take a 15-8 lead and control of the first set. Christian County was leading 20-14 and then closed out the set by scoring the next five points.
In the second set, the Lady Colonels opened with a 6-3 lead and continued to build from that point forward. Christian County was never really threatened in the set and won the set going away, 25-15.
Christian County ups their record to 12-15 and will close out the regular season this weekend in the Toyota of Hopkinsville Western Kentucky Smack Down.
