The Lyon County Lady Lyons soccer team continued their late season hot streak Tuesday night in the 5th District championship game. The Lady Lyons won their 10th match in a row as they beat the Trigg County Lady Wildcats 4-1 at Lee S. Jones Park.
Trigg County scored first for a 1-0 lead before the Lady Lyons tied the match on a penalty kick. The Lady Lyons scored three goals in the final five minutes to seal their second district title in three years.
The Lady Lyons got two goals from Leah Schroeder to lead the way to the title. Schroeder also assisted on a goal. Mia Myers had a goal and an assist, while Rose Smith added a goal for Lyon County.
Trigg County’s lone goal in the match was scored by Madisen Ireland.
With the win, Lyon County improves to 12-3. Trigg County falls to 5-13-1.
Both teams will advance on to next week’s 2nd Region tournament at Hopkinsville.
