The Ohio Valley League has announced the addition of a ninth team for the 2019 baseball season. The OVL said the Franklin Duelers will play their games at Franklin-Simpson High School.

The new club announced last month they have been added as a new OVL. The league confirmed it Sunday.

The OVL, a wooden bat summer league for college baseball players has expanded from five teams in 2015 to nine in 2019. The league has stated on several occasions that they are courting a possible addition from Tennessee, Indiana, Missouri, or Kentucky. An additional team would be needed in 2019 to even the divisions at five teams each. The OVL did not immediately say which division the Duelers would join, and no team information has been added to their website.

Tucker Hughes, an assistant coach at Waldrof University who has coached in the New York Collegiate Baseball League and Mid-Atlantic Collegiate League, has been selected as the Dueler’s first head coach, according to the team’s Twitter page.
