Fort Campbell’s Gabe Gamez turned in a personal best 18:23.97 run at the Region 1 AA meet on Saturday at Yellow Creek Park in Owensboro. The time was good enough for 11th overall, qualifying him for this weekend’s state meet in Lexington. Afterward, Gamez talked about his performance and the difficulties of competing while dealing with asthma, particularly on a cold day.
