VIDEO – Kunnmann Caps Cross Country Career at State Meet

11-4-kunnmann

A sloppy track and slow start kept University Heights Academy runner Muki Kunnmann from a fourth straight top 10 finish at the state cross country meet. However, the run doesn’t tarnish her accomplishments as the most decorated cross country runner in school history.

Kunnmann covered the 3.1-mile course in 21:34 Saturday to finish in 28th place. The course was altered after heavy rains Thursday left the start area under water until early Saturday. It wasn’t the start that Kunnmann was looking for, but she has no regrets.

Anna Rupp, the great-granddaughter of former University of Kentucky basketball coach Adolph Rupp, won the Class A race. The Lexington Christian freshman finished in 19:02.

Kunnmann has already started planning for the spring track and field season, with her sights set on a 3200-meter state championship.
