Christian County’s Tyler Shemwell made her commitment to play softball at Murray State University official on Wednesday at a signing ceremony at the school. Shemwell committed to the Racers after a sophomore season that saw her hit .432 with 8 home runs and 38 runs batted in. She was named 3rd-Team All State by the Kentucky Softball Coaches Association.
She hit .405 with 12 home runs last year, with the biggest homer coming in walk-off fashion against Caldwell County in the 2nd-Region championship, sending the Lady Colonels to their first state tournament in six years. Shemwell also drove in 53 runs and had 26 extra-base hits during her junior campaign. The outfielder was name 2nd-Team All State by the coaches and was named to the All-State Tournament team. She is one of 6 returning starters for the Lady Colonels in 2019.
