The Murray State women’s basketball team fell for the first time in the 2018-19 season, 86-65, to Big East member Butler Tuesday night at Hinkle Fieldhouse in Indianapolis.
The Racers held their own with Butler early in the game by jumping out to a 12-4 lead, however, that would quickly vanish as the Bulldogs led 24-19 at the end of the first. From there, the Racers struggled to find footing, while the Bulldogs thrived by outscoring the Racers 48-29 over the next two quarters to build what would be an insurmountable lead.
Lex Mayes and Evelyn Adebayo led the Racers on the night with 15 points each. Adebayo fell one rebound shy of her third straight double-double, but did lead the Racers with nine boards. Janika Griffith-Wallace added 11 points and five rebounds to the effort, while Macey Turley had 10 points and five assists.
The Racers return home one week from today, Tuesday, November 20, for a clash with regional foe Lipscomb. Tip-off from the CFSB Center in Murray is scheduled for 6 p.m.
