The Murray State football team looks to end the season on a positive note Saturday when it travels to Clarksville for a Heritage Bank Battle of the Border matchup with Austin Peay.

Despite low temps and even some snow earlier in the week, Saturday should be close to pleasant in Clarksville. The high for the day will be 59 with little chance for precipitation and moderate winds out of the ESE at 6-8 mph.

Saturday will mark 65 years and three days since the first time Murray State met Austin Peay in football and since then it has developed into one of the most heated rivalries for either team. Despite a win by the Govs last year in Murray, the Racers have a healthy lead in the all-time series, 36-15. The Govs have had the most success against the Racers in Clarksville, but still trail the series there, 14-11.

After capturing the trophy in each of its first two years of existence, the Racers could be well on their way to capturing a third Heritage Bank Battle of the Border title. Already leading 12-3, a win Saturday would give MSU 15 points, just under halfway from the 34 points needed to clinch.

Following the season finale, the MSU coaching staff will hit the road to try to shore up the next generation of Racers in advance of early signing day on Dec. 19 and National Signing day on Feb. 6. On Thur., Aug. 29, the Racers will kick off their 94th season of football under the lights of Roy Stewart Stadium against Pikeville.
