Lady Warriors Fall to Trinity in State Title Game Rematch

Heritage Christian Academy finished second at the Highlands Latin Tip-off Classic Saturday in Louisville, splitting the two games they played.

HCA lost to defending state champion Trinity Christian 47-23 in a rematch of last year’s KCAA championship game. Trinity broke open a 16-16 halftime tie with a 16-4 third quarter run and ended the game on a 15-3 run to hand the Lady Warriors their first loss of the season.

Kinley Deason and Chelsea Dortch each scored seven points to lead HCA, while Kayley Wadlington and Meredith Crunk each scored four points.

HCA knocked off the host Highlands Latin 33-27 in the semifinals. HCA outscored Highlands 10-5 in the second quarter and 9-7 in the third quarter to seal the win.

Dortch was the lone Lady Warrior in double figures with 14 points. Deason scored five points, and Abbi Bullock, Kayley Wadlington, and Logan Gibson each scored four points. Crunk added 11 rebounds and four steals, and Wadlington had eight rebounds.

HCA (3-1) returns to action Monday at South Haven, Tenn. in Springfield.
