Knowing she wanted to play college softball since she was four, Caldwell County’s Emmarae Staples made her dream a reality Tuesday when she signed with Frontier Community College.

Staples hit .354 with 11 extra base hits and 12 RBIs for the Lady Tigers as a junior. She expects to be a key player for a Caldwell County team that advanced to the region championship in 2018 and returns all but one starter in 2019.

Frontier Coach Marty Slover was at the ceremony and said he can envision Staples being a versatile player who can play a number of positions at Frontier. He said Staples appeared on their recruiting radar during the postseason that saw Caldwell County finish as both district and region runner-up.

Frontier Community College, located in Fairfield, Illinois, competes in Division I of the National Junior College Athletic Association.
