Lady Rockets Spoil Fort Campbell Season Opener

For future trivia reference, the answer to the question will be the Crittenden County Lady Rockets. The question is what team won the first official game in the new gym at Fort Campbell High School. The Lady Rockets scored the first 17 points of the game Monday night on the way to a 57-13 win over th Lady Falcons.

A very young, and inexperienced, Fort Campbell team struggled out of the gate offensively. The Lady Falcons finally got on the board with 40 seconds to go in the first quarter when Brianna Dugger knocked down a three. Crittenden County led 17-3 at the end of the quarter.

The Lady Falcons’ offensive woes continued in the second quarter. Fort Campbell got only a couple of free throws from Aliya Powers, as the Lady Rockets extended the lead to 34-5 at the half.

Fort Campbell got a basket early in the 3rd quarter from Powers to make it a 36-7 game. Crittenden County then scored the final 12 points of the quarter to take a 48-7 lead into the final quarter.

The Lady Falcons had their best quarter of the night in the final stanza. Both Powers and Dugger knocked down 3-point shots, as Fort Campbell played the Lady Rockets to 9-6 in the quarter to reach the final margin.

Despite a tough loss there were some bright moments for the Lady Falcons. Among those was the play of Powers, who had 7 points and 6 rebounds. Dugger had six points. Danielle Houston did not score, but did manage five rebounds for the Lady Falcons. Lillianna Powers gave the Lady Falcons some solid play at the point over the course of the night.

Crittenden County was led by Taylor Guess with 13 points, while Jaelynn Duncan added 12. A total of ten Lady Rockets scored in the contest.
