The Fort Campbell boys’ basketball team moved to 1-0 with a 58-50 come-from-behind win over visiting Clarksville Christian on Tuesday night. The last time the Falcons began the season with a victory was the 2009-10 campaign under Coach Shawn Berner. Berner is better known as the former Falcon football coach who delivered back-to-back-to-back state championships from 2007-09.
Austen and Ethan Bowles both scored 11 points in the first half to lead Clarksville Christian to a 27-22 halftime lead. For the Falcons, Jaylen Allen scored 6 and Doryan Hall added 5.
Fort Campbell took control in early in the second half, outscoring the Centurions 23-6 in the third quarter to take a 45-33 advantage. In the final frame, Clarksville Christian shaved 4 points off the cushion, but the Falcons held on to win 58-50.
Cameron Johnson had a 9-point second half to lead the Falcons with 14. Allen followed with 12, Hall 10, and Nathan Lake scored 7 in the third quarter.
For the Centurions, Austen Bowles finished with 20, followed by Ethan with 15. Ian Daniels chipped in 10, 8 in the final quarter.
Next up for the Falcons is a visit from Clarksville Academy on Friday. The Cougars are coming off a home victory over Todd County Central on Tuesday.
