It was a tough start to the season Saturday for the Christian County Colonels. The Colonels made the trip up to Daviess County to take on the McCracken County Mustangs in the Kentucky 811 Shootout. The Mustangs blitzed the Colonels from the opening tip and rolled to a 67-40 win.

McCracken County started very fast, scoring the first ten points of the game and holding the Colonels scoreless for more than 3 ½ minutes. The Mustangs would go on to lead 17-8 after one.

The Mustangs defense continued to be dominant in the 2nd quarter, holding the Colonels to just two points for more than four minutes at the beginning of the quarter. McCracken County would go to the locker room with a 33-17 lead.

The second half was not much better offensively for the Colonels. McCracken County continued to keep the defensive pressure turned up. By the end of the 3rd quarter the Mustang’s lead was 56-28.

Christian County played the Mustangs more evenly in the final quarter, outscoring them by one point. However, by that time the deficit was too big and McCracken County put it on cruise control down the stretch for the 27 point win.

Fred Tandy had 18 points for Christian County, while Qua Chambers added six. Jackson Sivills led McCracken County with 23.
