The Dawson Springs girls’ basketball team had no trouble with visiting Fort Campbell on Thursday night, topping the Lady Falcons 51-10. The 51 points ties the Lady Panthers’ largest output of the season, improving their record to 3-1. The Lady Falcons slip to 0-7 with a trip to Caldwell County (2-2) scheduled for Saturday. Dawson Springs will be home again on Friday night for a visit from Madisonville-North Hopkins (2-0).
Dawson Springs’ Erin Orten had 8 first-quarter points followed by Kaylee Simpson with 6, and the Lady Panthers jumped out to a 21-2 advantage. Dawson Springs scored 12 and 13 points on either side of halftime to lead 46-7 going into the final frame. The Lady Panthers took their foot of the gas in the fourth, but cruised in for the 41-point victory.
Simpson finished with 18 to lead all scorers, followed by Orten with 8 for the Lady Panthers. Lilliauna Powers finished with 7 to lead Fort Campbell, with Asia Cabili adding 3.
