One of the Second Region’s top baseball players has committed to Southeastern Illinois College to continue his athletic career. Livingston Central senior Cameron Head made the announcement on social media Friday morning.
Head was 4-2 on the mound as a junior with a 2.26 ERA. He struck out 30 batters in 40 innings. At the plate, he batted .290 with nine extra base hits. In the field, his .966 fielding percentage was among the best in the region for middle infielders.
Head was named All-District and All-Region both his sophomore and junior seasons at Livingston Central, helping the Cardinals to the Fifth District title in 2017. He was also a key member of the Lyon County American Legion Post 68 team that won the junior state title and the senior title in consecutive seasons.
Head joins Union County’s Davis Corbett and Coy Burns and Marshall County’s Cole Griggs and Tyler Belcher as area players who will play at Southeastern Illinois in 2020. Head’s former teammate at Livingston Central, Cameron Dean, is a freshman at SIC this year.
