KiKi Radford presented her plaque as an inductee into the Heritage Bank Christian County Athletic Hall of Fame
Christian County High School inducted its 9th Heritage Bank Christian County Athletic Hall of Fame Class in a ceremony Saturday afternoon. Thirteen new members were recognized, along with the 1988 state champion wrestling team.
The former Colonels inducted into the Hertiage Bank Christian County Athketic Hall of Fame included:
Anthony Babb – A 1986 graduate, Babb competed in basketball, football, and ran track. He collected 1032 points during his basketball career, earning All-District, All-Region, and Honorable Mention All-State in 1986. Babb is in his fourth season as the head girls’ basketball coach at Hopkinsville.
Steven Bides – Bides graduated in 1994, earning All-District in basketball in 1993 and 1994. He went on to play at Saint Catherine College for two years, before earning a scholarship to Western Kentucky University.
Phillip Brooks – A 1983 graduate, Brooks quarterbacked the Colonels to a 1981 district championship, and was part of the 1982 KHSAA Class 4A State Championship team. He earned Honorable Mention All-State, and was selected All-WKC in 1981 and ’82. He was also a member of state-champion weightlifting teams in ’82 and ’83, earning State Outstanding Lifter (145 weight class) in ’83.
Don Dillard – Dillard coached the Lady Colonels’ basketball team from 1996-2007, compiling a 240-77 record. He collected 8 district titles, 3 regional titles, and advanced to the KHSAA State Final 4 twice. He was recognized as 2nd Region Coach of the Year in 1999, and was selected to coach the Kentucky/Indiana and Kentucky/Ohio All Stars.
Rachel Diuguid-Smith – A 2007 graduate, Diuguid lettered every year from sixth grade until graduation. She won regional championships in 2003 and 2006, and was runner-up in 2004 and 2005. In ’05 she was selected for the All-State team.
William Gee – Gee graduated in 1979 after earning Most Improved, Most Pins, Fastest Pin, Most Valuable Player, and All-American Community Golden Seal awards with the Colonels. He finished 4th in the state in ’77 and ’78, before winning the State Championship in the 155 lb. class in ’79.
Hayung Kohler – Kohler arrived at Christian County in 1984 as a foreign-exchange student from Germany, graduating in ’86. He connected on 11 field goals, including 4 game-winners and a 51-yarder against Hopkinsville. He went on to kick at Murray State and became one of the Racers’ leading scorers.
Joe Lancaster – Lancaster played football and baseball for the Colonels, graduating in 1996. He earned Most Valuable Player for the Colonels’ baseball team in ’96, and was selected as a Kentucky All-Star. He accepted a baseball scholarship to Austin Peay University and made the All-OVC Team in ’99.
Frank McWilliams – A 1972 graduate, McWilliams competed for the Colonels in wrestling, football, and track. He won the KHSAA Wrestling State Champion in 155 lb. class in ’72.
Mitchell Moore – Moore was a 5-year letterman in golf while also competing in soccer and basketball before graduating in 2005. He was the back-to-back KHSAA Individual Region 2 Champion, and won 5 high-school tournaments. He climbed to the 11th-ranked golfer in the state, before accepting a scholarship to Murray State University. As a Racer, he was a 4-year letterman and Second Team All-OVC. He is now a professional golf instructor in Hopkinsville.
Bryan Morris – Morris was busy in high school, playing baseball, soccer, golf and running cross-country, and earning CCHS Most Athletic his senior year in 1999. He was the Colonels’ baseball MVP in ’98 and ’99, and was named USA Today All-American Honorable Mention in ’98. In both ’98 and ’99, he was selected to the East/West All-Star Team from Region 2. He received a baseball scholarship to Murray State University.
Kiki Radford – The current Lady Colonels basketball coach, Radford graduated in 2001 as a two-sport star. In basketball, she was a 5-year letterman, All-District her junior year and All-District and All-State Honorable Mention her senior year. She is a member of the 1000 Point Club and was selected to the Kentucky All-Stars in ’01. She also excelled on the diamond as a part of runner-up and State Champion softball teams in ’98 and ’99. She was All-District and All-Region all four years with the Lady Colonels, and was 2nd Team All-State as a sophomore. As a junior and senior, Radford was 1st Team All-State, and she holds the school records for both walks in a season and career stolen bases. She accepted a basketball scholarship to Belmont University, and graduated in 2005.
Arnold Slaughter – Slaughter graduated in 1981 after competing as a wrestler and running cross-country. As a junior, he was a district and regional champion and state runner-up in the 98 lb. class. As a senior, he repeated as district and regional champ and claimed the State Championship in the 98 lb. class.
