After having its 4-game win streak snapped with a loss to Galilean earlier in the day, the Heritage Christian Academy boys’ basketball team got back on track with a 63-41 victory over Belmont on Saturday night. The Warriors improve to 6-2, and will return to the court on Tuesday when Jo Bryns travels to Hopkinsville.
Gavin Fowler scored 5 first-quarter points to help the Warriors to a 13-9 lead, before HCA created some breathing room with a big second quarter. Josh Jones scored 8 points, Rajah Mills chipped in 6, and HCA led 33-22 at the half.
Heritage Christian clamped down defensively after halftime, holding Belmont to only 6 points in the third quarter. Dalton Folz got going for the Warriors, scoring 8 of his 11 points to help stretch the margin to 22.
Daniel Meredith scored 10 fourth-quarter points to try to jump start a Belmont comeback, but it was too little, too late and the Warriors claimed a comfortable 63-41 result.
Mills led a balanced HCA scoring effort with 12 points and 4 assists. Folz finished with 11 rebounds to go with his 11 points, and Jones scored 10. Austin Crawford connected on three 3-pointers for 9 points.
Meredith led Belmont with 13, followed by John Michael Laster with 11
