Lyons Crush Fulton City at Limestone Bank Christmas Classic

The Lyon County boys’ basketball team closed play in the Limestone Bank Christmas Classic with a 78-39 stomping of Fulton City on Friday.  The Lyons went 2-0 at the Butler County tournament, improving to 8-5 overall.  The Bulldogs slip to 2-8 on the year.

Lyon County 7th-grader Travis Perry nearly matched Fulton City’s point total with 29, including 6-13 from 3-point range, to go with 6 rebounds and 3 assists.  Jackson Shoulders just missed a double-double with 14 points and 9 boards, followed by Gabe DeFew with 11 and 5.  Nick Whalin continued his good play of late with 11 points.

The Lyons shot 30-60 for 50% from the field, dragged down somewhat by an 8-25 mark from behind the 3-point line.  The Bulldogs were held to 33% on 13-40 shooting.

The Lyons will return to the court just before the New Year when they play in the Stewart County Christmas Classic on December 28 and 29.  They open play against East Robertson, TN, before finishing with Henry County, TN.
