Less than 24 hours after getting spanked by Madisonville by 40 points, University Heights Academy got a nice bounce-back win Saturday with a 54-49 victory over Whitesville Trinity at Blazer Gym.

UHA and Trinity, of the Third Region, were tied 13-13 after one quarter before the Lady Blazers used a 13-2 second quarter run to grab a 26-15 lead at halftime.

The Lady Blazers extended the lead to 41-34 after three quarters despite Lily Hendricks picking up her fourth foul in the frame. Trinity then went on an 11-4 run to tie the game with 3:53 left. Hendricks re-entered the game and promptly scored the next five points to push the UHA lead out to 50-45. Trinity wouldn’t get any closer until a bucket with two seconds left for the final margin.

Hendricks finished with a game-high 21 points and five assists. Meghan Adams joined her in double figures with 10 points and nine rebounds. Aisha Pantiere scored nine points, and seventh grader Shiyah Forte scored seven points.

Nina Wathen led Trinity (6-6) with 19 points.

University Heights (9-4) will jump into district action Tuesday when they go across the street to play at Christian County.
