After a tight first quarter, the Glasgow boys’ basketball team broke open the game in the second and never looked back, topping Todd County Central 82-56 Friday night in Elkton.  Glasgow claims its fourth win in five tries to improve to 8-5, while the Rebels slip to 5-12 overall.

The Rebels were forced to play without injured, leading scorer Jon Calvert and key contributor DJ Johnson, but Deonte Toliver came out ready to carry the scoring load.  Toliver knocked down four 3-pointers on the way to 16 first-quarter points, but the Rebels still trailed 21-20 after the first quarter.

Tayshaun Bradley scored 10 points in the second quarter, and the Scotties outscored the Rebels 24-8, including a 13-0 run, to lead by 17 at the halftime break.

Glasgow continued to stretch the lead after the break, holding the Rebels to 9 points in the third quarter.  Nick Sorrell scored 7 and Robert Kingery added 5 to help the Scotties to a 63-37 advantage with 8 minutes to play.

Clayte Weathers scored 4 in the final quarter before fouling out, helping the Rebels to 19 points.  However, the Scotties matched that output and eased to the 26-point victory.

Toliver’s 18 led the Rebels, followed by Austin Rager with 10 and Weathers with 8.

The Scotties placed four in double figures, led by 15 points for Kingery and Sorrell, and 13 for Bradley and Tucker Kirkpatrick.

The Rebels return to the court on Tuesday with a trip to Bowling Green to face the 6-7 Greenwood Gators.
