After a judge denied him a preliminary injunction that would have made him eligible to play at Marshall County last week, Zion Harmon will apparently play for a prep school in Florida.

According to information from the Grind Session, a circuit of elite high school basketball events, Harmon is listed as playing for Downey Christian, a prep school in Orlando, Florida when they are scheduled to, ironically enough, play at Marshall County High School this weekend.

Harmon, a top-10 ranked guard in the Class of 2021, transferred to Marshall County over the summer after scoring 32.7 points a game as a freshman at Adair County.

Harmon was subsequently ruled ineligible by the KHSAA to play at Marshall County, his fourth school in as many years.

The Harmon family appealed the KHSAA’s decision, which said the player’s change in schools was motivated by athletics and a violation of KHSAA Bylaw 6.

Last week, Judge Thomas Russell of the U.S. District Court in Paducah denied an injunction to the KHSAA ruling, meaning Harmon will have to sit out one year had he stayed at Marshall County.

Harmon and his new team will play Spire Academy of Ohio, a team that features LaMelo Ball, Saturday at 2:30 at Marshall County. Downey Christian will play Louisville-based Aspire Academy Sunday at 3:00.

Larry Vaught says Harmon will stay enrolled at Marshall County and play for Downey Christian on the weekend.
