Trigg County used strong starts to the first and third quarters to hand Community Christian a 73-38 loss Saturday at Wildcat Gym.
The Lady Wildcats built an early lead thanks to a 19-0 first quarter run to grab a 21-3 lead. Ahead 38-18 at halftime, it was a 14-2 run to start the third quarter that put the game out of reach for good.
Trigg County scored 16 points off 17 turnovers and got 21 points from their bench in the win. They shot 42-percent from the field and grabbed 43 rebounds.
Four Lady Wildcats scored in double figures on the afternoon. Adri Phillips hit 9-of-12 free throws and finished with 15 points and seven rebounds. Rylee Bush added 12 points and nine rebounds, and Katelyn Slone and DeDe Barbee each scored 11 points.
Alaya Murphy led Community Christian (2-16) with 21 points and nine rebounds.
Trigg County is scheduled to host Fort Campbell Monday and will entertain Caldwell County Tuesday at Wildcat Gym. For Trigg County, Saturday was their first home game since Dec. 17 and this week will be their first consecutive home games since the first two games of the season. Seven of their final 11 will be at Wildcat Gym.
