The UHA Blazers are hoping that their 7th straight trip to the Boys All A State Tournmant will last a big longer than the previous six. UHA is set to take on Bishop Brossart in the final game of the boys first round Thursday night at 9:30pm ET in McBrayer Arena.
Last season, the Blazers took a roundhouse early and never recovered. Lexington Christian opened the game on a 17-3 run and UHA never seriously threatened after that. LCA would go on to pick up the win by the score of 68-47.
In 2017, the Blazers easily handled Fort Knox 80-56 in the opening round. KyKy Tandy, a sophomore at the time had a huge game with 30 points. UHA then lost a tough quarterfinal game to Newport 62-56 after entering the final quarter with the lead.
Back in the 2016 tournament, UHA cruised by Pineville in the opening round 69-34. Playing as a freshman, KyKy Tandy again had a big game, leading the UHA attack with 27 points. The Blazers were then knocked out by Cordia in the quarterfinals 57-44.
The 2015 tournament was not kind to the Blazers. UHA was upended in the first round by Buckhorn 55-51. The Blazers again had the lead in the game going into the final quarter.
Louisville Holy Cross knocked the Blazers out in the opening round of the 2014 tourney. Holy Cross pulled away a little bit at a time, on their way to a 68-55 win.
In the 2013 All A Classic, UHA took a five point lead at the end of the first quarter, only to see Model battle back to get the win by the final score of 68-56.
The Blazers last deep run into the tournament was 2010, when they were knocked out in the semifinals by Shelby Valley.
UHA last won the All A Classic in 2008.
