Sixth District powers Webster County and Henderson County remain the top two teams and will meet for the second time Friday. Christian County and Hopkinsville remain 3-4, and the rest of the region is a hodge-podge of teams with more ups and downs than a Holiday World rollercoaster.

1) Webster County (20-3) – The Lady Trojans advanced to the Class 2A State Championship semifinals before losing to Christian Academy-Louisville, the team that won the title. Their loss snapped a seven-game winning streak and was the first to a Kentucky school this season. In addition to Henderson County, Webster will see Hopkinsville and Christian County in the final two weeks of the season.

2) Henderson County (10-3) – The Lady Colonels are going to be a busy bunch over the next three weeks. They have nine games left on their schedule but only three against region teams. The nine opponents left are among the top teams in regions 1-4.

3) Christian County (11-7) – Christian County is another team that will be busy over the next few weeks. They have ten games left, including showdowns with Webster County and Henderson County. The Lady Colonels and Webster County are the only two teams left that hasn’t lost a game to a region foe.

4) Hopkinsville (14-10) – Hoptown hasn’t played in over a week but can make a jump in the rankings with games left against the top three teams in the Super 7. The Lady Tigers also have OOR games left with Marshall County and South Warren.

5) Madisonville (14-6) – The Lady Maroons shook off a three-game losing streak with a win over a good Owensboro squad. Their up-and-down season includes a win over Hopkinsville, who was minus two starters, and a close two-point loss to Christian County.

6) Hopkins County Central (8-10) – The Lady Storm have dropped three of five games, including single-digit losses to Henderson County and Hopkinsville. Hopkins Central has several games left against region opposition and could either move up or drop out of the Super 7 based on their play.

7) Caldwell County (8-11) – So who to put at No. 7? Trigg County beat Crittenden County twice but lost to Caldwell County by 13 points. Lyon beat Caldwell County on Thursday but lost to Dawson Springs in the All-A Region Tournament – a team Caldwell beat by 21. And Crittenden owns two wins over Lyon County but lost to Caldwell County by 10. We give Caldwell the slight edge over Lyon based on the full body of work, but it’s close.
