Heritage Christian Suffers Road Loss at Oak Ridge

2-5-crunk

A late comeback by Heritage Christian fell short as they dropped a 45-40 KCAA Region 1 game at Oak Ridge Christian Tuesday in Morgantown.

Oak Ridge used a 22-10 second quarter run to grab a 30-21 lead at intermission and led by nine heading into the final eight minutes.

Kayley Wadlington and Kinley Deason each scored four points in the final frame but a 4-of-12 night at the free throw line was too much for the Lady Warriors to overcome.

Deason led all scorers with 20 points and six rebounds, while Wadlington scored 10 points and pulled down nine rebounds. Abbi Bullock had six points and three assists, and Meredith Crunk had four points and five rebounds.

The loss was still a major improvement for HCA, who lost to Oak Ridge 48-19 on Jan. 8 in Hopkinsville. Oak Ridge is ranked No. 1 in the latest KCAA Power Poll, while HCA is ranked third.

The win means Oak Ridge gets a first round bye in the Region One Tournament, while HCA will be the No. 2 seed and play Bethel in a first round game.

Heritage Christian (7-9) will travel to Mayfield Thursday to play Northside Baptist.
