Kiki Radford doesn’t apologize for her Christian County Lady Colonels playing a tough schedule in the final two weeks of the regular season.

After losing to the All-A Classic state champs Owensboro Catholic on Tuesday, the Lady Colonels dropped a 54-46 decision to last year’s All-A Classic state champs – Murray – Thursday at Lyle Dunbar Gymnasium.

After a quick start that saw the Lady Colonels lead 17-16 after one quarter, they managed a pair of single-digit scoring quarters in the second and third frames as Murray built a nine-point lead.

Murray hit eight 3-pointers in the contest and seemed to have an answer for every Lady Colonel run in the contest. Christian County outrebounded Murray 31-28, but 13 of Murray’s rebounds were on the offensive glass. The Lady Colonels also missed 10 shots in the paint.

Murray led 29-25 at halftime and extended their lead to 38-31 after three quarters. Christian County got as close as 50-44 late.

Bianna Snorton led the Lady Colonels with 21 points and five rebounds. Aaliyah Hampton and Destinee Catlett-Watkins each scored five points, and Trinity McGee had four points and 10 rebounds.

Lizzy Curtis scored 14 of her 17 points in the first half for Murray (21-3), and Calli Carver added 15 points. Angela Gierhart scored seven of her 10 points in the fourth quarters.

The win was Murray’s fourth straight over Christian County, who last beat the Lady Tigers in 2001.

Christian County (14-9) has lost two straight games for the first time this season. The Lady Colonels host Hopkins Central Friday, play McCracken County Saturday in Murray and close out the regular season with games against Henderson County and defending region champion Webster County.
