Maybe it was because it was the game between showdowns with Christian County on Tuesday and Hopkinsville on Saturday. It could be that the Fort Campbell Falcons are making significant strides and getting better each time they take to the court. Whatever the case may be, the UHA Blazers overcame a sluggish start to remain unbeaten in 8th District play Thursday night as they went on the road and knocked off Fort Campbell 76-48.
The early part of the game belonged to the Falcons. Fort Campbell held KyKy Tandy scoreless in the first quarter, and held the rest of his UHA teammates to only 8 points, as Fort Campbell led after the opening quarter 11-8. Five different Falcons scored in the first 8 minutes.
While he started off slow, KyKy Tandy took things over in the second quarter. Tandy scored 15 in the second, and combined with Drew McGowan to score 22 of UHA’s 23 points in the quarter, as the Blazers came storming back to take a 31-23 lead.
The Blazers kept the pressure going in the 3rd quarter. UHA connected on four 3-pointers and outscored the Falcons 26-14, to push the lead out to 57-37 going into the final quarter.
UHA was never threatened from that point forward, as they cruised on out to the final 28 point margin.
KyKy Tandy led the way for UHA with 24 points. Drew McGowan scored 15, while Taquan Hollowell added 9 points.
Doryan Hall was the top scorer for Fort Campbell with 13 points, including three made 3-pointers. Cameron Pratt added 9 points, while Isaiah Blyden scored 7 for the Falcons.
UHA goes to 24-4 overall on the season, and 5-0 in district play. The Falcons fall to 5-18, and 0-5 in 8th District play.
