The Heritage Christian Academy girls’ basketball team dug itself a hole with a low-scoring first quarter on the way to a 35-28 loss to hosts Northside Christian on Thursday night. The Lady Warriors drop their second-straight to slip to 8-8 overall.
Lee Ann Richard scored 4 points in the first quarter to help Northside to a 12-3 lead going into the second.
Chelsea Dortch responded with 5 in the second quarter, and HCA outscored Northside 11-10 to trail 22-14 at the halftime break.
Both teams clamped down defensively in the second half, with the teams only combining for 16 third-quarter points, and Northside taking a 10-point cushion into the final quarter.
HCA held Northside to only 4 points over the final 8 minutes, but couldn’t climb all the way back in a 7-point loss.
Dortch was the lone Lady Warrior in double figures with 10, including three 3-pointers. Kinley Deason chipped in 7.
Emilie Whitaker led Northside with 13, followed by Richard and Niki Whitaker with 10 each.
