
The defense and the play of Kinley Deason turned out to be the difference Monday night for the Heritage Christian Academy Lady Warriors. Deason lit up the board for 20 points and the HCA defense held Christian Community to under 40 points, as the Lady Warriors rolled to a 50-39 win.
Early in the game it was the Lady Warriors’ defense that led the way while the offense found its footing. HCA held Christian Community to just five points in the opening quarter, as the Lady Warriors took a 9-5 lead.
Behind the efforts of Deason and Chelsea Dortch, the Lady Warriors got things rolling offensively in the second quarter. Dortch scored 8 in the quarter, while Deason added 6 more, as HCA extended their lead on out to 27-12 at the half.
Deason then helped put the game away with her efforts in the 3rd quarter. She scored 11 points in the quarter, one more than Christian Community as a team. HCA was able to move the lead on out to 43-22 entering the final eight minutes.
Christian Community finally got some offensive flow in the 4th quarter, but the game was in hand at that point, as the Lady Warriors cruised on out to the 11 point win.
Kinley Deason topped the scoring column for the Lady Warriors with 20 points. Chelsea Dortch added 13 points. Logan Gibson assisted in the effort with 6 points.
