Christian County won the 1988 KHSAA State Wrestling title by defeating cross-town rival Hopkinsville 109-99. Jim Perrin was the coach of the Colonels' lone state title team.
Former Christian County coach Jim Perrin will be inducted into the Kentucky Wrestling Coaches Association Hall of Fame this weekend at the state wrestling tournament in Lexington.
Perrin began the Colonel wrestling program in 1970 and coached until 1989. His 1988 team won the state title, and the Colonels were runner-up in 1986 and 1987. They finished third in 1989.
His Colonel wrestling teams won four district titles and four region titles. He coached 12 individual state champions, and 10 state runner-ups. In addition, he was named the 1988 state wrestling coach of the year.
Perrin coached six different sports at Christian County over a 34-year career that included three slow-pitch state championships and the 1996 fast-pitch state championship. He died of cancer in 2012.
He will be introduced along with former Colonel wrestlers he coached during Saturday’s state wrestling tournament.
