Christian County is looking for a new boys’ soccer coach following the resignation of Matthew Gibson. Gibson confirmed to YourSportsEdge.com Thursday that he had stepped down after one season.

“I have some other commitments that are beginning to require more of my time and will continue to require even more of my time as the year goes on,” he said.

The Colonels were 8-12-1 in Gibson’s lone season as head coach. Christian County lost to University Heights Academy 3-1 in the first round of the Eighth District Tournament.

The new coach will have to replace seven seniors in an attempt to get the Colonels back to the region tournament for the first time since 2014.

The opening is the third among city schools, with University Heights Academy and Heritage Christian Academy also looking for a new soccer coach.
