Koby Batts swam in his first region meet for Hopkinsville as a fifth grader. Seven region titles and two region meet records later, the senior is preparing for his final state swim meet for the Tigers.
Batts won the region title in the 100-yard fly Saturday in Paducah, his third individual region title in the past two seasons. He also teamed to win the 400-yard free relay – the third straight year Hopkinsville has won the event. In 2017, his relay team set a new region meet record in the event that still stands.
One of Batts’ goals is to reach the top 16 at the state meet like he did in the 400-yard free relay last year.
Batts stays busy out of the pool too. He is the Hopkinsville High student body president, and president of both the Key Club and Student Y Club. Batts is also vice-president of the FFA Club and is active in the National Honor Society and Beta Club.
