Strong Third Quarter Sends Lady Lyons Back to District Championship

A 20-3 third quarter run has Lyon County playing in the girls’ Fifth District championship for the ninth time in 10 years after a 39-29 win over Livingston Central Tuesday. Lyon County will play Trigg County for the championship Friday. The Lady Wildcats beat Crittenden County 46-37 in the other semifinal.

Lyon led 12-6 in the first half, but Livingston Central used a 10-0 run to grab a 16-12 lead. They kept the lead at 16-15 at halftime.

The third quarter was all Lyon County. They hit 8-of-13 from the field and scored 11 points off 11 Livingston turnovers in the frame that fueled their 20-3 run.

Calista Collins scored eight of her 10 points in the third quarter and finished the game with nine rebounds. Allison Murphy led the Lady Lyons with 14 points, nine steals, and six rebounds.

Livingston Central shot 55-percent from the field (11/20) but turned the basketball over 31 times. Lyon put up 31 more shots from the field and scored 23 points off the turnovers.

Lauren Wring led Livingston Central (4-24) with 14 points, and Sydney Lasher scored five points.

Lyon County (15-10) will play Trigg County (15-15) Friday night at 6:30 for the Fifth District championship.
