After a rough first two weeks in her second season on the LPGA Tour, Emma Talley appears to be finding her game.
The Princeton native is tied for 13th after the first round of the HSBC Women’s World Championship in Singapore. Talley was tied for the lead through 14 holes at 4-under until three straight bogeys dropped her from the lead. She was able to recover and birdie the final hole to finish at 3-under.
Talley hit 12 of her 14 fairways off the tee and had 29 putts in her round, one under her season average. Five players are tied for the lead at 4-under-par.
After missing the cut in her first two events of her second season on the tour, Talley finished tied for 42nd in Thailand last week. Her first paycheck of the season for $7,128 puts her 91st on the money list. She must finish in the top 80 on the money to retain her tour card for next year or win an event to receive a two-year exemption.
