Caldwell County senior Derrin Boyd spends much of his time on the basketball court — and the results speak for themselves.
Boyd is just eight points away from 1,900 career points with the Tigers and is fourth on the school’s all-time scoring list.
Boyd is also moving up the rebounding list as well. With 625 career boards, Boyd is fifth all-time with the Tigers and is just 11 rebounds away from passing Trent Asher for fourth.
Boyd has helped lead Caldwell County to a 19-10 record this season and a berth in the 2nd Region semifinals Friday night against University Heights Academy. At 24.1 points a game, Boyd is 12th in the state in scoring this year.
Colleges are also beginning to take note of Boyd’s game. He has offers from Kentucky Wesleyan, Georgetown College and Maryville College, and figures to pick up even more offers with his sterling postseason play.
