The Heritage Christian Academy boys’ basketball team closed the book on a KCAA state runner-up season with a banquet on Thursday night at the school. The jv and varsity teams honored their award winners, along with the jv and varsity girls’ basketball teams, and the cheerleading team.
For the junior varsity, winners included: Christian Character Award – Josh Groves, Coach’s Choice Award – Derek Wadlington, Most Improved – Ryan Trapnell, Hustle Award – Zane Yates, Offensive MVP – Weston Powell, Defensive MVP – David Crunk, and MVP – Trenton Hayes.
For the varsity, the season-stat leaders were: Scoring- Gavin Fowler (14.7), Assists – Rajah Mills (3.5), Rebounds – Dalton Folz (11.5), Steals – Gavin Fowler (1.7), Blocks – Dalton Folz (1.4), FG % – Elijah Britton (58.3%), 3-Point % – Gavin Fowler (31.8%), and Free Throw % – Josh Jones (71.1%).
The varsity award winners included: Christian Character Award – Matt Nason, Most Improved – Lucas Hite, Hustle Award – Dakota Brake, Coach’s Choice – Josh Jones, Offensive MVP – Rajah Mills, Defensive MVP – Dalton Folz, MVP – Gavin Fowler, and Heritage Award – Austin Crawford.
