Calloway County scored three early runs and picked up a 4-1 win over Livingston Central in the season opener for both teams in Murray.
An error and walk in the first inning came ahead of a two-run double from Garrett Scott to give the Lakers an early 2-0 lead.
Livingston got a run back when Michael Barrow doubled and scored on a Calloway error. However, Calloway tallied single runs in the second and fourth innings and got a strong performance in relief from Ellis Stubblefield, who struck out five Cardinals in three innings and allowed just one hit.
Josh Wilson and Carson Kitchens each had two hits for Livingston Central, who returns to action Thursday when they host Union County.
