Hampton Named All-State Honorable Mention by Herald-Leader

Christian County senior guard Aaliyah Hampton was named All-State Honorable Mention by the Lexington Herald-Leader Wednesday in voting conducted by coaches statewide.

Hampton averaged 18.3 points a game to lead the Lady Colonels while shooting 45-percent from the field and 68-percent at the free throw line. She also averaged 5.1 rebounds per game.

Voter apathy among coaches, especially in western Kentucky, kept several deserving players off the list.  Only two players from high schools west of I-65 were named to the All-State Teams. Allen County-Scottsville’s Sarah Sutton and Calloway County’s Charlee Settle were both named to the third team.

Only 70 coaches returned ballots, with only eight schools from Regions 1-4 included in that total.
