Caldwell County fell just short of an early-season upset on Tuesday, falling to 7th District foe Madisonville-North Hopkins 7-6 in a back-and-forth softball affair in Princeton. Caldwell has another district game coming up on Thursday when it visits Dawson Springs. Madisonville will host district rival Hopkins County Central on Thursday.
