Clarksville Northeast used a 4th inning rally to get past the Hopkinsville Lady Tigers 9-4 Saturday morning in the Queen City Classic in Clarksville. Northeast plated five runs in the bottom of the inning to go from 4-3 down to an 8-4 lead. They would close out the game with a run in the bottom of the 5th to seal the win as the time limit in the event ended the game.
Hopkinsville got off to a quick start in the contest. Sebrina Hodge drove in a run with a single and then later scored on a steal of home in the first inning to put the Lady Tigers up 2-0. Northeast came right back with two runs in the bottom of the inning.
In the top of the 3rd, Morgan Hodge led off the inning with a single, and then later scored on a ground out to make it 3-2. Marley Hancock connected for a double and then scored on a sacrifice fly to extend the lead to 4-2. Northeast trimmed the lead to 4-3 with another run in the bottom half of the inning.
During their big rally in the bottom of the 4th inning, Northeast was able to take advantage of errors on three consecutive at-bats, plus a walk and a hit batter to score their five runs.
Sebrina Hodge was 1-3, with 2 RBIs, and a run scored for the Lady Tigers. Taiya Straight was 1-2 with an RBI, and a run scored.
In the circle, Marley Hancock went the distance giving up 9 runs, only five of which were earned. She struck out seven while walking five over five innings.
