Saturday has been a tough day for the Purdue Boilermakers.
The Purdue men’s basketball team just missed a trip to the Final Four Saturday night, falling to Virginia 80-75 in overtime in the NCAA Tournament.
Meanwhile, the Boilermaker football team may be facing some issues at quarterback.
Elijah Sindelar, the former Caldwell County High School standout who won the 2014 Kentucky Mr. Football award with the Tigers, did not participate in Purdue’s scrimmage on Saturday.
Tom Deinhart of GoldandBlack.com reported that after the practice Purdue head coach Jeff Brohm noted that “…Sindelar ‘tweaked’ the same knee he hurt in 2017 and is done for the spring. He didn’t practice on Friday and no reason was given for his absence.”
Deinhart said he was “guessing Sindelar got hurt on Wednesday.”
Sindelar, a fifth-year senior, is not only in line to be the starting quarterback for the Boilermakers this fall, but is hopeful of gaining a sixth year of eligibility from the NCAA because of his past injury problems.
Sindelar has thrown for 2,547 yards and 20 touchdowns as a Boilermaker.
Purdue’s annual spring game is slated for next Saturday, April 6, at Ross-Ade Stadium in West Lafayette, Ind.
The Boilermakers will kick off the 2019 season on Aug. 30 at Nevada.
