Another Division One baseball signee in Christian County had a spectacular day on the mound Sunday. UHA’s Drew McGowan pitched a complete game one hitter as the Blazers took down Pilgrim, Rhode Island 3-1 for their second win in a row in the Disney Baseball Spring Training event.
McGowan was in spectacular form in the contest, striking out 14 batters over seven innings of work. The one run he gave us was an unearned run in the top of the 7th inning. Pilgrim came up with a one out double and then scored on a Blazer error. McGowan then closed out the game without any further damage.
Not only was McGowan big on the mound, he helped out his own cause at the plate, going 2-2, with a double, an RBI, and two runs scored. The only other Blazer with a hit was Tanner Thomas, who went 1-3, with a single and an RBI.
On the mound, McGowan gave up the one unearned run, on one hit, striking out 14, while walking only one.
